Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}

Here are a few more pictures of my long ago {2007} trip to Israel.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}This is me in a "religious" area of Jerusalem. I was encouraged to wear a long, modest skirt while venturing into this part of the city with friends.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}Beautiful Jerusalem at night. Man, just looking at these pictures makes me want to go back SO bad!! Hopefully someday.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}I believe this street is the same street as the photo above. You can see the lights/wires hanging above the street in this picture too.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}Jerusalem at night.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}This is an entrance to the Dead Sea. We passed by the Dead Sea on a bus, on our way to Eilat. I really regret not going to the Dead Sea while I was there!
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}More of the Dead Sea. It seemed like we drove by the Dead Sea forever. It's huge! For some reason I had imagined the Dead Sea as being very small, so I was surprised when I saw how big it was.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}The desert around the Dead Sea, on the way to Eilat.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}More desert. I want to say this mountain has a significant historical story. I can't remember the name of it or what happened but I think I remember one of my friends mentioning an important event that happened here. I was really confused when I was over there! I have little knowledge of Christian history and next to no knowledge of Jewish history. The friends I was with are Jewish and speak only Spanish and Hebrew. They kept giving me all kinds of information on the historical places/stories that are important to their history. I am not fluent in Spanish and wasn't always sure if some of these historical places were more significant to Jews or Christians. That's another reason I'm anxious to go back over there. I'd love to go with my husband and have a good idea of what we want to sightsee and know the Biblical/Christian significance behind the places we visit.

Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}This is the Red Sea in Eilat. I was surprised the sea wasn't actually red! Ha! The water here is very blue and very clear. That is Jordan just across the sea. If you look closely you can see the Jordanian flag over there.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}Dolphins in Eilat! A friend and I actually went scuba diving and swam with these dolphins! We had to scuba dive with an instructor and I was all panicky trying to learn to breathe with the air tank. The dive was only about 30 minutes and by the time I started getting used to breathing with the tank.... the dive was over! It was fun seeing the dolphins swim all around me and I'd love to scuba dive again!
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}The roped off area where the dolphins were. The shore in the background is Eilat.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}This is a cool looking dock thing near the dolphin area.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}More dolphins.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}Feeding time.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}I loved these floating docks! It was so relaxing to sit out here, relax and watch the dolphins. It was cool to be able to see Jordan across the sea and, to the south... far on the horizon, you could see Egypt.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}This picture was taken from a street in Eilat... also looking towards the Red Sea and the Jordanian mountains.
Wordless Wednesday, Israel {Part II}And a not-so-great picture of the lights of Eilat at night. There is an airport right on the coast of the Red Sea and planes flew right over us, several times, as they were coming in to land. I wish I had captured pictures or videos of some of that. I really loved Eilat.. it's such a beautiful place.
More pics to come....
