World Arthritis Week Credit: http://www.stannahstairlifts.co.uk/news/osteoarthritis-uk-closer-look This week is World Arthritis Week....Arthritis is a condition we hear about all the time, and many of us will know lots of people affected by it....but how much do we really know about it? For example did you know that leading Arthritis charity Arthritis Care have released findings from a recent study suggesting that over 70% of sufferers are enduring CONSTANT pain? Osteoarthritis occurs when there is damage to the joints that the body is unable to repair. The exact cause is unknown. My own grandmother suffered with arthritis and I will never forget the the large bumps and swellings in her hands and fingers which made it impossible for her to straighten them and use them normally. Everyday tasks such as using cutlery became difficult, and she was not able to easily read to us as turning the pages was quite a difficult task. When a disease is so commonly heard of it can be all too easy to lose awareness of what it really means to live with the suffering....Osteoarthritis is most common joint disease in the UK, affecting millions of people.
Do you know somebody who is affected by arthritis?
