I am almost sad that we’re at Day 23 of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. I can’t believe we’re at W today and have just three letters to go!
Today, I am super-excited to have one of my favorite bloggers, writer par excellence, someone who does everything with passion, someone I love more than 300 peacocks dancing in the rain, someone who tugs at my heart-strings with every word she writes, someone who never misses a blog post here. I met her back in July 2011 and was fascinated, first by her blog name and then, totally enthralled with her writing. She is fun, loving, generous and gorgeous. She’s a strong voice against domestic violence. She’s Kim Sisto Robinson of My Inner Chick. She’s a rockstar blogger.

With open arms and an open heart, I am honored to have Kim here today!
Welcome, Kim! ♥
My dearest Vidya, thank you for asking me to Guest Post on your lovely blog. I am thrilled to be in Bangalore, India discussing how the writing process is similar to the baking process. What? You didn’t know that? I love you more than lemon tulips swaying in the gold sun in June.
How Making S’mores Is like Writing
• You begin with nothing …But that nothing can become Quite Something—even life changing.
• Place whole graham crackers over lightly greased cake pan…Just as you place words, metaphor, & dialog in the first phase of your monkey mind.
• Stir brownie mix together—then pour evenly over crackers…Precisely as you might combine & create additional syllables into your poem, essay or story.
• Bake about 25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean…The vowels need to heat up inside your brain until they are ready to awaken.
• Sprinkle milk chocolate chips or Hershey bars over the top of brownies…This is what the writer must do with her words to make them more delicious and delectable for her readers.
• Spread 3 cups of marshmallows over the chocolate evenly…What? Did you assume you were done? No. The writing is never done. Never complete. Never cooked entirely thru. There is always a better word, a better description, a better way to write something.
• Set in the oven ONLY until marshmallows are golden brown…The writer needs to know when to stop, when to say, “no more!”— but the writer also recognizes that when she writes her last word, it is never truly the end.
• Cut a slice of your creation & savor upon your tongue. The bar will be abundantly gooey and amazingly devourable….This is what the writer does when she is finished writing. She swallows her syllables and similes; she consumes her ink and dialog. She sighs with gratitude. And she is satisfied.
4 Ingredient S’mores Bars
• Graham crackers (I use one package)
• Brownie Mix (Make as directed on package)
• Chocolate chips or Bars ( I use 3 cups or 2 bars)
• Marshmallows ( 3 cups or to your own taste)
• I crush MORE graham crackers over the top of my marshmallows after baking.

I have a confession to make – I had a tough time formatting this post. At almost 12 midnight – I am sure Kim heard my tummy rumbling all the way in Duluth. Drool!
My Mom compared writing and relationships to cooking, too.
What would you compare Writing to? Please share in the comments!
