A Stinky Day

Posted on the 10 November 2012 by Paige
I was peacefully eating a potato with Frank's RedHot Sauce when Josie, my dog who was sitting on the couch, started snapping at a bug I couldn't see. I stared at her knowing this could be a seizure because she had done this before. Then she fell off the couch and ran into the front entrance way, still chasing something and banging into everything. So I tried to hold her still because we she was wobbly and shaking and panting but I let go when I noticed poo everywhere. She had suddenly started farting diarrhea! I pulled her outside, then ran back in, and grabbed a leash really fast because I was going to throw up from the poo smell, and ran back outside. I saw her laying down.
I was only in my pajama shorts and tank top and it was almost freezing out (but I didn't feel cold, adrenalin?). I just stood there, I couldn't get Josie to stand up and I knew my mom would be home soon and I didn't have a plan.
My neighbor came out about 17 minutes later because it was time to pick up her kids from the bus stop and asked if I was okay, so I told her what happened. She also picked up my sister from the bus for me and came back. We all stared at Josie a bit more and decided to ask my Uncle Will who lives next door to carry her into the house and put her on her bed. Me and my friend who just got home with my sister, cleaned up the poop. Then Mom got home and Will carried Josie to the car.  Mom and my neighbour went to the Veterinary Emergency Hospital and stayed there a long time.
My sister and I went to our friend's house (the friend who helped clean up the poop) and helped them stuff their newspapers, did a puzzle and when we got bored we started playing poker. When dad came home he came over and helped us deliver the papers. Then we went back to their house and tried to cook dinner. We kind of screwed it up but the mom's came home and took over. We ate at their house, went home and went to bed.
Josie stayed at the hospital and just came home today.
The neurologist says she will get better and that she has vestibular disease.
