100 / Happy Birthday, Baby Brother

Posted on the 20 January 2014 by Rarasaur @rarasaur

Your birthday cake always has an extra candle– for Martin Luther King, Jr.

It started years ago, when your front teeth were growing in and all your sentences came with gushes of air.  You wished Dr. King’s dreams to life, and the words extinguished your birthday candle.

Mom said that’s what happens to candles in the presence of a true wish.

Ever since, I know you’ve wished for people to live good, strong lives in peace.

Thank you for doing so, but more importantly– thank you for being the sort of person who would.

May your birthday dreams come true!

I speak often about my baby brother– for his antics and his love.  Here are some other posts:

  • Where I explain our relationship, in a B4Peace post
  • Where he learns to draw a circle by comparing it to Earth
  • Where I cast him in the movie of my life
  • Where he turns my awful birthday into a wondrous one
  • Where I repair his disinterest in Care Bears
  • Where I throw Mac&Cheese at his head

Happy Martin Luther King day!
