Avoid Getting Sick0

It hit suddenly with no warning signs. First, the stomach pains, excessive gas, and then the full blown run to the bathroom unable to keep anything down. Until now, I still cannot pin point how I could have possibly came down with this bug, but it has taught me a lesson to minimize exposure. I went on a crazy cleaning frenzy to eliminate any virus or bacteria and it gave me more awareness of the germ infested surfaces that we encounter everyday, so prevention is key. Here are some ways to avoid getting sick:

  1. Wash your hands: It took me awhile to get this and understand it but if you think about it your constantly touching surfaces and then not realizing it but then touching your face and mouth, which is a mode of transmission. So if your coming home from anywhere, always wash your hands.
  2. Carry hand sanitizers: Hand sanitizers comes in handy if you are unable to wash your hands but remember it must have more than 60% of alcohol in order to be effective. They are small enough to put on your keychain, car, purse, etc. I especially use hand sanitizer after pumping gas, it just creeps me out to think of all of the dirty hands that have touch that pump.
  3. Wipe down your groceries: When you come home from doing your groceries its best to rinse or wipe down your juices, milk gallons cartons, etc. People are constantly picking things up and putting them down, especially medications because they are trying to read the label while their sneezing and coughing.
  4. Disinfect: It is best to disinfect anything that is touched on a daily basis in your home with either lysol or bleach and water, usually doorknobs, light switches, remote controls, refrigerator doors, cell phones.
  5. Clean kitchen sponge: Your kitchen sponge is a home for bacteria and instead of cleaning your dishes your just spreading germs around, it is best to clean your sponge either by using the microwave or dishwasher if not replaced every 2 weeks.

You can’t entirely stop yourself from getting sick but you can minimize what you’re exposed to daily and lower the chances of getting sick. The more precautions you take the better the outlook and I hope this helps.
