A Monster-filled Afternoon-Review of Monsters University

Posted on the 20 October 2013 by Justalovelythought @justalovelythou
Today was one of the lazy Sunday afternoon which was perfect to catch up on a movie. It had been a crazy work week and I had done a lot of work in the morning too. I decided to watch Monsters University. I am a huge animation fan and try catch up on all animated movies that Hollywood decides to dish out. I am also one of those people who loves anything animated. I know this sounds twisted but yes I am an adult. Monsters University is supposed to be the prequel to Monsters Inc which I had missed watching and I am glad. I will definitely look forward to it as I totally enjoyed watching Monsters University.
It is a story about an underdog, Mike who though being a monster isn't scary at all. His friends, teachers, schoolmates, etc all mocked him for his dreams to become an official scarer- a monster who scares children :) The movie is a light hearted and fun film with a learning that everyone has a chance to dream. Though it doesn't usually have to be a practical one and also it doesn't mean that dreams do get fulfilled. Mike is a cute little guy who is anything but scary. Although he is immensely talented and has a very positive outlook but he cant be a scarer. But Mike never gives up, he goes to college, tries to get a degree in Scaring, tries to win Scary Games but finally he gets kicked out of college.
At the end of it all, he eventually does get to work in Monsters Inc as a scarer but after a lot of odd jobs and obstacles.
In this entire movie there is also a sub-plot of Mike and Sully's friendship which reminds one of Harry Potter. Sully is blue-blood and has an impressive lineage of scarers in his family. He has a lot of pressure to make it big but he isn't very successful. However Mike's friendship changes it all for him.
Do catch this movie for its fun and warm moments and a few laughs and in case if you have seen Monsters Inc then do drop in a line about what you thought of it :) :)
Do visit this site after watching the movies, I quite enjoyed it: http://monstersuniversity.com/edu/
