I am now 28 weeks pregnant and I had my 2nd growth scan today. I was really hoping to settle the question of whether twin 1 is a boy or a girl. Alas...this was not to be as (frustratingly) twin 1’s legs were firmly clamped shut, perhaps in an attempt at early modesty? In fact twin 1 was being a little difficult and didn’t seem to want to be measured and kept turning inwards and away from the camera every time the poor sonographer tried to take a measurement. I can see twin 1 may be a little bit of a handful. Twin 2 was as chilled as last time, lying nicely and was fairly easy to take measurements from. He also again let us confirm that he is indeed of the male species. He was the 60s hippy baby to twin 1’s modest Victorian. I will try and find out again at my 32nd week scan. But if the modesty continues twin 1 will just have to be a surprise...though I do keep being told that the sonographer who said twin 1 is a girl at my 24th week scan is probably right. But I guess I will see for sure soon enough, I have a feeling that the last few weeks of my pregnancy will fly by.
The consultant was very happy with the twins’ growth and development. They are still the size of normal singleton babies and in that respect are prefect sizes. Twin 1 has moved out of the transverse position (lying across me) and is now breech (feet down) and weighs 2lb 10oz. Twin 2 is still above twin 1 and in the transverse position with his head on my left side and he weighs 2lb 9oz. So I feel really happy that they are doing so well, I must be doing something right! All I need now is to keep them cooking for as long as possible.
I had a bit of a scare this week as I started to lose my mucus plug (which trust me is as gross as it sounds). I phoned triage who reassured me that as long as my waters had not broken and I was not bleeding or having contractions I would be fine. But being the worrier I am I was not entirely reassured until I saw my doctor today. It never ceases to amaze me the wonderful, scary and often incredibly weird and unpleasant things that happen to your body during pregnancy. Oh well I am sure there is more crazy things on the cards for me to deal with (labour aside...as I imagine that will be a whole different ball game).
Well I have posted below new scan pictures. They are not great as twin 1 decided to face inwards towards my back and in all honesty they both seemed a bit camera shy, but oh well they are a record of their awesomeness at 28 weeks - a beautiful milestone for my amazing babies.
I am already in love with my little miracles; I just hope I can be an amazing mommy to them. I can’t wait to meet them.
