Another Year, Another Adventure!

Posted on the 19 January 2012 by Susiemcbeth @susiemcbeth
I am sitting here on the sofa, laptop on lap with my twinssitting in their bouncy chairs in front of me. Indigo is sound asleep in a milkcoma and River is smiling at me and kicking his legs like crazy, looking likehe is having a very good time indeed - Belly’s full of milk make for satisfiedcustomers. It is 2012 and I am very happy to be starting a new year with afamily and as last year’s resolution came to pass (get pregnant) I have decidedto make a couple for this year - the obvious one is to lose my twin pregnancybelly (and as soon as the doctor gives me the ok I will start up on theexercise so I can start shedding the pounds) and to try Roller Derby – I amjust crazy about it and I think it will be a fun hobby to take up ad give mesome me time away from my little milk monsters and it will also give me achance to get involved in a team sport (Go team!)!
Well 2011 was pretty crazy. I started the year crazy busy withwork and thinking that I would never get pregnant, and then I ended the yearcrazy happy with my gorgeous twins – Best year yet! I can’t wait to see howthis year unfolds and what adventures lie in wait for me and mine (and you canbe sure that I will be blogging about it all).
In terms of a twin update River and Indigo were weighed by thenursery nurse last Thursday. River now weighs 9lb 15.5oz and Indigo weighs 10lb14.5oz and they are now 17 weeks old (16 weeks when weighed). So they are stillfairly small for their age but that’s normal with them being premature twins. Theydid their best to enthral the nurse under their spell with much cuteness and wideeyed smiles and I am pretty sure ‘Operation we are cute and you will love us’ workedand they now have another admirer to add to their cult of cute lovers. I have posted some new pictures of them to help them continue their operation... :0)
It has not all been smooth icing for them so far this year. 2012has been a little tough on them, as they have both been suffering with a prettyhorrible cold since Christmas – though thankfully the evil lurgy is now on itsway out. It amazed me that they still managed to be super smiley even when theywere full of cold (which, btw is a bit of a nightmare - if one twin has thecold so does the other...and baby snot is nothing to laugh at. How so much cancome out of one’s so tiny, is a mystery to me? ). Last week they had theirthird set of immunisations, which again felt a little bit like baby torture.Though instead of holding them down so that two nurses could give them twoinjections, this time it was three (...injections, not nurses). They used theirlungs to full effect and screamed louder than a 13 year old at a Take Thatconcert circa 1993 (much to the slightly bemused looking nurses’ distaste) andafter their siren style revenge (which lasted for about 3 minutes but felt like30) they were back to their smiley selves, which kudos to them is pretty goodgoing. If it was me, I imagine I would have been a bit sulky for at least acouple of hours. It did not look fun.
Right, I am off to change and feed my little monkeys. But before I go, I just wanted to say...
Happy New Year everyone! I hope that 2012 brings us all lotsof happiness and plenty of adventure.
