Today was a good day for film fans. CBS signed a multi-year deal which allows them to televise the Hollywood Film Awards.
So, why exactly is that a good thing?
Well, first of all, it gives all the celebrity addicts a chance to gawk and judge another red carpet event. But more importantly, it takes place in October.
That means that the awards season just got several months longer…and by longer, I mean that it’s doubled.
Which sounds like a good idea, until you experience film awards burnout around mid-January.
If you’re concerned that this will just be another of the same old awards shows, this year’s winner for best film should put your mind at ease — Star Trek: Into Darkness.
After all, some of us can only handle so much high-brow cinema (there’s a reason the summer of blockbusters exists…palate cleanser).
