This week marked a few milestone anniversaries. On Thursday, the Beatles' "Abbey Road" album turned 50. Coincidentally, on that same day, the 2WC turned ten.
Milestones provide an opportunity to reflect and take stock. When I wrote my first blog post ten years ago, I had no idea what the 2WC would become. My plan was to take it one day at a time, and see where it went.
In ten years, the 2WC has grown and changed in ways we could not have possibly imagined. It's become a part of our routine and a welcome creative outlet. We've discussed books, movies, music, politics, science, etiquette, and everything else under the sun. There have been good days and bad, but through it all the 2WC charged onward. (Fun fact: In ten years we've only taken four days off. That's two each.)
Over the past year, we've been thinking a lot about what this anniversary means for the 2WC and its future. The 2WC has become a daily ritual for both of us, which is why this decision is not an easy one. For personal and professional reasons, the 2WC is signing off, at least for a little while.
I don't know what the future holds. The 2WC may be back in some shape or form, and we may not. For now, we're taking some long overdue time off.
Before we go, I do want to say one last thing.
At its heart, I think each and every crusade comes down to one thing - kindness. I hope that comes through, even when we get a little snarky or sassy. We snark and sass because we care.
