When I was a little girl, I’ve been dreaming to collect every Barbie dolls that I could see in the malls, but without considering the Black Barbie dolls. However, as I grew up, I began appreciating the black dolls, and now look they’re on the cover of Vogue!
Barbie takes on the spotlight in Vogue Italia’s iconic edition the “Black Issue”.
Their purpose for this ish is to send the importance of diversity in the fashion industry. Starring the renowned supermodels Iman, Naomi Campbell, and others.
Here’s a quick info on the black doll;
“The first black doll from Barbie was introduced in 1967, as a friend of Barbie called Francie, followed by the first “Black Barbie” doll, introduced in 1980. The trend continues this autumn with the launch of a collection of black Barbie dolls, called the So In Style dolls; which have been designed with more authentic-looking black features, including a new facial sculpt that has fuller lips, a wider nose, more distinctive cheek bones and curlier hair.”
Now, for the 50th years of iconic trends, the “Black Issue” acknowledge their creation of black dolls.
The dolls will be available early next year - visit www.BarbieCollector.com for more information.
