In high school (and college), I dumped all my suitors and chose these girls instead.

ARIANE. SHEENA. LORENA. My mean girls,
It was in the middle of our second year when we started to hang out together. Apparently, our different sets of friends were also friends so we’d see each other every time, also because we (finally) belonged to the same class. I remember we had a big barkada that grew even bigger as the partners, technically called puppy love, were introduced. We hung out during and after our classes, at night, during the weekends, practically whenever. However, in that big heterogeneous family, we found ourselves slowly forming our own little subgroup. We talked about everything, defended each other against anyone and bullied each other just for fun. Our foundation is not as accurate as others, but I’m pretty sure we had a good and strong start. Soon after, we invisibly detached ourselves from the big group (but still remained close friends) and that’s when we started to run the world. I’m not even kidding.

It’s been 8 years since we became best friends. We went to different colleges, made new friends, still, when we come home, we always search for each other. We still want each other. Through the years we established these unwritten traditions that we’d do every time, like spending summer together.

Summer 2010
I've no idea when this tradition began but we always had this urge to be together, even when there’s only 2 weeks left. You see, Shan went to OLFU in Manila and she had summer classes so there were probably one or two summers that she missed. And of course it does not feel right when someone’s left out.
Fortunately, this year everyone was home but me. I had to attend my summer classes (that’s another story). So, as soon as our classes ended on the third week of May, I immediately packed up my things and went home. We did not do much this summer. We hung out at one's house, talked about a lot of things - mostly about our future, how old we already are, and boys. For the first time, we are all in a happy relationship.

I got to tell you, this one was quiet special (I’ll tell you about it soon). We initially thought of a mini-vacation away from our families and friends, just four of us. However, circumstances (i.e., money, time, etc.) did not permit us to do so. So as per usual, we took a 10-minute drive to a nearby beach and caught up with all the latest.

Summer jump-shot 2012
We did not stay long, though, and decided to go home. Our parents have become stricter to us, that I don't understand. It's like the older we get, the more they become protective of us. Anyway.
We went again to the beach two days after without Ariane, and hung out more. We watched the stars at night at the boulevard, attended our batch-mate's birthday celebration, teased Lorelei upon meeting her first crush and talked about how excited we are for our future bully target. To sum it all up, it was one, happy and memorable summer, as it should be.
I love these girls. They will never be replaced. IMYBBG ♥
