We are nearly halfway through the year, and honestly, that blows my mind. Where have the first five months of 2019 gone? It should still be January, right?
At the same time, this has been a bit of a year. I tend to keep my personal life out of these posts, and will continue to do so; however, I do have a few vague remarks about 2019 so far.
I don't generally do New Year's resolutions, but this year I made myself a promise to put myself out there more and, both professionally and personally, take more risks.
Professionally, I've exceeded my New Year's expectations. Personally, however, is still very much a work in progress.
Despite what the bi-daily blog posts might suggest, I'm a very reserved person. Don't get me wrong, I'm a total nerd, goof, and occasional spazz, but I do keep my cards close to my chest especially in new and unexpected situations.
In some ways I've improved. In other ways I'm fairly certain I've epically failed since nearly the beginning of this year.
In small and, admittedly, slightly inconsistent ways I've been trying to communicate and work my way back from my failures. At times I think I've gotten somewhere and other times I'm not so sure.
I'm sharing this not to give myself an anxiety attack (yay sharing?), but in hopes that it might mean something to someone and perhaps provide some clarity and peace of mind. If that person is you, I hope this helps.
The good news is that while the first five months of 2019 may have flown by there are still have seven months to go. So, consider this a reminder to check in on your resolutions.
...just for fun:
Sorry for the cheeseball song, but it seemed far too appropriate in so many ways...
