…be Flexible

red_delicious_applePoor Apple is having a rough week, what-with the cheers of enthusiastic fans eager for the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus transforming into jeers against the products’ shortcomings.

As a proud owner of the dinosaur iPhone4 (and a human being with some perspective) I find it very difficult to feel too bad for the whiners griping about their phones that are “too big” or “too bendy” or “crashing because of a bug in iOS update.”

So, in the spirit of fairness, I thought I’d take a moment to appreciate a highlight of iOS 8 that seems to have been lost in the shuffle—the ability to ditch those endless group text messages.

If you aren’t completely thrilled by this feature, you clearly have never been subjected to a group text featuring upwards of a dozen phone numbers, all of whom enthusiastically respond to whatever, urgent message needed to be simultaneously shared with 30 people, but couldn’t be sent via email—causing your phone to basically be in a state of seizure for a solid half hour, as everyone and their cousin responds to that original message.

Of course, Apple may have simply created another opportunity for failed text etiquette, because no one’s going to like the person who constantly ducks out of group texts. Face it Apple, there’s no winning here.
