…be High and Dry

…be high and dry

…good times…

Sometimes life hands you lemons, and you have a choice.  You can give in to the bitterness or (as the saying goes) make lemonade.

Yesterday life threw my cell phone into the washing machine, and lucky for you all that means you get to come along with me on yet another one of my “when technology backfires” adventures.

Yes, my lemonade will be sharing my the trials and tribulations of my completely not by choice phone-free holiday weekend in a two-part blog series.

Part 1:

Anyone who knows me is probably aware that I have a rather tumultuous history with phones, computers, hard drives, and basically any piece of technology that’s meant to make life easier has probably made my life a technological nightmare at some point.

Yet, as a glutton for electronic punishment, I keep going back to it. No faulty hard drives, shorted screens, failed audio, defective batteries, frayed power cords, malfunctioning fans, or multiple water-logged cell phones (yes, it’s happened before…this one’s just luck it was soapy water it landed in) can keep me away.

What can I say? I’m an optimist, it’s got to be better next time, right?  I will say that this gadget fiasco was preventable, and I take full responsibility for the state my phone currently finds itself in, which happens to be chilling out in a bowl of rice in the refrigerator.

I only hope that should it survive it’s swim, that it can learn to forgive me as I have forgiven its predecessors for all of their failings.

That’s all for now, I’m going to go back to my technology-less existence, with only the internet to comfort me.  Check back in on Monday for my water-logged phones final diagnosis, and more insights into my turbulent relationship with gadgets.
