Welcome, my friends, to a Saturday rhyme,
I thank you sincerely for taking the time.
My next request might seem a bit silly-
Please put down your phone. I mean it, really.
Today is a day of unplugging all nation-wide,
A perfect excuse to disconnect and perhaps go outside.
With gadgets that show us the world near and far,
Sometimes it's just nice to be where you are.
The snaps, twits, and instas will survive for a day,
Seriously, I promise it will all be okay.
Your most loyal followers will all be just fine.
And you? Well, you will have more time.
More time to be with the people around you.
More time to notice, share and listen too.
The moral my friends if you haven't quite got it,
Just be where you are and not where you aren't.
Why did I choose to say this in verse?
Because it's Dr. Seuss's birthday of course.
So, maybe in honor of the great Theodor Geisel,
You could open a book or be present for a spell.
