Just yesterday, my friend and I were marveling at how quickly this year seems to have whizzed by. Then I told her that Time goes at the same pace, it is our own perception that views it as fast or slow. But I must admit that each month I am surprised that another thirty days have passed.
It is a good thing I maintain an gratitude journal. Initially it was only a gratitude journal, but now I just use a desk calendar to jot down 3-5 things I am grateful for, along with three things I must accomplish in a bullet-journal format. I keep the rambling for my private journal when I feel the need to elaborate on these things. It feels wonderful to go back and look.
Why, when I was clearing out a box last week, I came across old desk calendars that were fun to see. I also discovered some old sketches, poems and a couple of short stories I had written. My son asked me what I'd do with these. I am not sure. Maybe I'll include them in my memoir, eh?
Grateful for early morning walks. Wonderful to be up early and get out for a brisk walk, and so nice to have a walking buddy. I do wake up early and get busy, delegating the walk to the second half of the day. But it is easy to skip going out when it rains or when something else comes up. Glad I am back to that old routine of starting the day with exercise.
And of course, I gifted myself a pair of new shoes that are most comfortable!
The decluttering goes on. I had set myself a tentative deadline of December, and I'll keep at it to see how it goes. Thing with decluttering is it requires a lot of discipline and focus. While I lack neither, there are only 24 hours a day and I try my best to make the most of those, what with other things to do. I am not going to stress over it. Instead, I'll just do my best and hope I make significant progress. One thing for sure, it feels wonderful to give away things and see the happy reaction on the recipient's face. For that I am grateful.
Also grateful to come across boxes full of old black and whites. Days when very few people owned a clunky old camera that was difficult to operate and expensive to maintain.
My phone finally stopped ringing. Oh, there are calls. Just that everything else works-but incoming calls just wont be audible. If I am looking at the screen when a call comes, well and good. Otherwise, missed calls. So prodded by my folks, I bought a new phone and shifted the main phone number to it and the second number to the non-ringing phone. Guess what? Now everyone calls the old number and I am back to square one. Sigh. Grateful for the humorous goings on in my life. Ah, the magic of routine!

My son was home for a short break - five days. He had so much work to finish that it wasn't all fun and games. But you know what they say about presence-just having him, seeing him, hugging him was a blessing. It seemed like we blinked and it was the day of his departure. Still, grateful he could come home. And of course, I enjoy cooking even more when he's around. He's so appreciative! And I, of course, look forward to his next visit.

October is the month when all my blogs' SSLs have to be renewed. Grateful to have Vanita to take care of the process. Secure websites are a big deal now, what with browsers giving that page not safe screen to the non-https websites. Certainly a case of better safe than sorry.

I feel blessed to do work that I love, work that gives me flexible working hours. And most importantly, appreciative clients.

I am especially grateful for my family, my friends and all the other charming people who brighten my life.♥
I enjoy the peace that comes from not hanging around social media, except to acknowledge or reply to mentions, which takes exactly fifteen minutes a day. Being offline is a far better alternative and gives me time to read, indulge in my hobbies and generally make more productive use of my time.
With November around the corner, I am wondering if I should participate in the NANOWRIMO this year. I have a project idea in mind and maybe I'll use the month to focus on it. Are you participating?
