…Bounce Back

Posted on the 30 April 2014 by Zer @the2women

nba-logoToday, the NBA surprised a lot of people when they announced the lifetime ban and $2.5 million fine they are imposing on the Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling.

For those who are unaware of Sterling’s situation, the billionaire owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, got himself into some trouble when he was recorded telling a girlfriend that he didn’t want her to bring black people to his games.

While it’s good that the NBA put their foot down, the swiftness of their decision begs the question — why didn’t this happen sooner?

It’s not like this was a one time incident.  Sterling has a record of racist and prejudiced against minorities.  He made his fortune as a slumlord.  That doesn’t exactly scream heart of gold.

While it’s good that the NBA stepped in, it’s time for the owners to reconsider who they let into their exclusive club.  Money can buy a lot, but it shouldn’t be able to buy excuses for the behavior exhibited by Sterling.  For now, the balls in their court.
