We live in an age of distraction. Our attention is being pulled at from just about every direction. This is not news, but it is a problem.
Now, people are being diagnosed with nomophobia—a fear of being without your phone. (Not to be confused with fomophobia, which is of course a fear of having a fear of missing out, or phone-home-phobia, which is or course a fear of E.T.)

- Are you reading this on your phone while in the room with other people who you know (and like)?
- Are you walking and reading this on your phone?
- Are you sitting in a restroom and reading this on your phone?
- Are you seriously still reading this on your phone?
If you answered yes to any of these final three questions, you may have a phone addiction. Don’t worry there’s hope. I have three individual pieces of advice for you based on the circumstances of your particular condition.
- Put the phone down and enjoy the company of those around you.
- Look up before you walk into someone or something.
