Ladies, this summer,we’re finally taking our rightful place in summer blockbuster lineup. Okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but we’re definitely moving closer.
After the success (financially speaking) of last summer’s “Maleficent,” and other female-led box office successes including the Hunger Game films, Hollywood is finally changing its tune when it comes to leading roles in summer blockbusters.
This summer will see the release of “Pitch Perfect 2,”Pixar’s “Inside Out,” and “Spy,” to name a few. All of these films (and more), have female-led casts. Okay, so none of these are exactly “The Avengers,” or “Jurassic World,” but it’s a start. Plus, at least one of those films has some pretty awesome superheroins.
So I think we can all admit that “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is probably going to take the top spot this summer, but there’s power in numbers, and second, third and fourth are ours for the taking.
