It’s likely if you’ve been on social media today you’ve seen that today is #NationalBeerLoversDay. Yes, a few other hashtags have challenged it — #TitleIX and #HurricanIrma being the most prominent — but all day long it’s hung in there, outlasting all the rest.
And while I’m sure there’s more than a few jokes to be made (and they have been made), here’s what I’ve noticed — the unity. There’s no one mocking the stout enthusiasts, or being bitter towards the lovers of sours. Because at the end of the unity of their commonalities is stronger than any divisiveness from petty differences.
Although I do have to give NBC a little bit of “Really?!?” for this calorie-counting post. Where’s the love?

Oh that we could all be so wise in other aspects of life, and see what unites us instead of what divides us, and perhaps carry that spirit into the other trending topics of our times.
