…Call It On The Fly

Postseason baseball is here once again.

For some that means the end of a long, heartbreak of a season.  For others, it means we can kiss our fingernails goodbye.

Of course, for a select few the postseason is a short-lived experience.

With the institution of the new Wild Card Game, a whole new level of  heartbreak has been added to the postseason.

Last night’s game between my beloved Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves, did not fall short of the MLB’s hopes and dreams for this new tradition.

By now, if you haven’t heard of the infamous disputed “infield fly” incident, then you could probably care less.

However, for those of us who do.  This, now infamous, incident will be talked about for the remainder of the postseason.

It will be debated and dissected, and suddenly everyone will be an expert on the infield fly rule (click on the info graphic to the right, for a more detailed explanation).

At the end of the day, the Cardinals won, the Braves lost and the Braves’ fans had an ugly, ugly moment.

For those who didn’t witness it. the crowd decided to voice their displeasure by tossing their empty bottles and other assorted items on to the field.  It was a sight to behold, and not Atlanta’s proudest moment.

But in all fairness, the heightened emotion and do-or-die mentality of the postseason can sometimes get to you.  However, in the future, glasses and plastics go in the blue bins, not on the field.

…and not to rub it in, but…go Cards!
