Can You See It?

Posted on the 22 August 2013 by Lily Hydrangea

Baby-Praying-Mantis ian and I stood staring at the very same piece of wood and had I not been with him I am sure I would have missed what we believe may have been a baby praying mantis. clicking on the photo to enlarge it might help. in case that doesn't work you can see a close up of the insect below. sorry for the poor quality but I'm not very good with my iphone's camera. the excitement caused by spotting this tiny creature was sufficient but the caterpillar seemingly appearing out of nowhere heightened the unfolding drama significantly. you can see in picture number 3 the praying mantis took off for the end of this wooden railing as soon as the caterpillar began moving towards him yet by picture number 4, the baby pray held his ground. unfortunately picture number 5 and 6 didn't pan out well - not because I am sparing you the gory details but because like I said earlier, I am not very good with my phone's camera. in the end the caterpillar did not seem as interested in the baby pray like we feared and they both went about their way peacefully. all's well that ends well.  : ) oh, and, this is what I'm guessing that baby should look like by late october.
