Happy Emmy Monday! I know it sounds weird, but it is what it is, so we're just rolling with it. Plus, it kind of makes Monday slightly less, well, Monday.

Zer: "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel"- I honestly don't know about this one. I could see "Curb Your Enthusiasm" winning because it's "Curb Your Enthusiasm." But I hope it's one of the three lady-led shows. Looking at this list of nominees, it's clear that streaming services have a leg up on the networks and even HBO when it comes to women in comedy.
Stephanie: "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" - I'll second Zer's sentiments above, and add that I am counting the days until the second season of this show hits...counting the days, Amazon.
Outstanding Drama Series:- "The Handmaid's Tale" (Hulu)
- "Game of Thrones" (HBO)
- "This Is Us" (NBC)
- "The Crown" (Netflix)
- "The Americans" (FX)
- "Stranger Things" (Netflix)
- "Westworld" (HBO)
Zer: "The Handmaid's Tale"- Between Times Up and Me Too, this seems like a lock for Hulu. It also helps that the show is amazing.
Stephanie: "The Handmaid's Tale" - But I won't be mad if "The Crown" pulls an upset. This season of "Handmaid" set its own course (after being set up by the novel) and it went places that I'm still sorting out (emotionally), but were absolutely brilliant.
Outstanding Television Movie:- "Fahrenheit 451" (HBO)
- "Flint" (Lifetime)
- "Paterno" (HBO)
- "The Tale" (HBO)
- "Black Mirror: USS Callister" (Netflix)
Zer: "Fahrenheit 451"- Honesty time. I haven't seen any of these. So, why "Fahrenheit 451"? Because it feels right.
Stephanie: "Black Mirror: USS Callister"- I admit, this is the only one I've seen, but the mind-bending stories "Black Mirror" has told are all award-winning in my book, the more the merrier.
Outstanding Limited Series (formerly known as the Mini-Series):- "The Alienist" (FX)
- "The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story" (FX)
- "Genius: Picasso" (National Geographic)
- "Godless" (Netflix)
- "Patrick Melrose" (Showtime)
Zer: "Genius: Picasso"- In it's sophomore season this mini-series managed to nail it again. Their honest portrayals of well-known "geniuses" is fascinating and a reminder that we're all human.
Stephanie: "Genius: Picasso"- The premise of this mini series is daunting, to say the least, and what started with Einstein picked up even more steam as it entered the art world. Can't wait to see what they do next season with the monsters (real and fictionalized) of Mary Shelley.
Outstanding Variety Series (Talk):- "The Daily Show With Trevor Noah" (Comedy Central)
- "Full Frontal With Samantha Bee" (TBS)
- "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (ABC)
- "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" (HBO)
- "Late Late Show with James Corden (CBS)
- "Late Show with Stephen Colbert (CBS)
Zer: "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee"- Why? If you have to ask you may be part of the problem. Late night continues to be a boys club, and Ms. Bee offers a refreshing break. Plus she does one of the best jobs on late night of actually attempting to question both political parties.
Stephanie: "Full Frontal With Samantha Bee"- Starting to feel like a broken record, but it's time, gentlemen.
