It’s official, NBC has introduced the annual snark-fest…I mean “live musical.”
Monday, it was announced that NBC will mount another live production next year for the holidays.
Unfortunately, they haven’t announced what musical or who will be starring, so we’ll have to wait before we can start tweeting and posting our disapproval…or do we?
Talented, potential casting, was already discussed in our Sunday blog (…Start at the Very Beginning), so I won’t bore you with more of the same. However, if NBC is looking for the same ratings, they’ll need to draw in people with a potential train wreck.
So, here are some suggestions, that would be sure to elicit some sort of response (full disclosure, some of these might actually be really good):
- R&H’s Cinderella — starring Miley Cyrus
- Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd — a holiday classic since the film was released on Christmas Day
- Fiddler on the Roof — This one is a bit of a downer, but it would actually be really good…and I can only imagine the backlash from the “war on Christmas” crowd.
…and some good news for those who missed it (or those who want to relive the snark-fest), NBC is rebroadcasting “The Sound of Music” this Saturday.
