Cocktail Hour

Posted on the 10 April 2012 by Susiemcbeth @susiemcbeth
For the last month I have been slowly weaning my lovely twins onto new milk. This lovely stuff was prescribed to us by the dietitian at the hospital to help chub them out, as they are both still a bit on the small side.
This has not been the easiest of tasks, as for the first three weeks they didn't really take to the milk. In fact, many of the feeds resulted in them in doing the following (and more): batting the bottle out of my hand, screaming loud enough for my ears not to stop ringing for a couple of hours and flat out refusing to drink - they are excellent at the whole locking their gums together. Whilst this is better than the ear bleeding screams, but as David Bowie (in the behind the scenes Labyrinth doc) said they are 'buttoned' and when they are buttoned there is no hope that milk will pass their deceptively cute lips. Which is at best, just a wee bit frustrating. However tantrums and buttoning aside I am quite happy as they are now taking the milk and are putting on the pounds (well more accurately the ounces)... so the 'fat milk' (as my friend J likes to call it) is a hit!
The milk is called Infatrini and is already prepared and comes in bags which is great as it makes it nice and easy. There is a minor downside though. We get the milk in monthly installments and milk for 2 babies for one month takes up a lot of space. So currently my living room is a milk locker, that is, until I can come up with a better storage idea in my tiny house.
The fun of this milk (apart from the chub factor and satisfied tummies) is that if you drop the 'r' in the name it becomes Infatini...which sounds suspiciously like cocktail time to me!
Bottoms up, I am off for another cocktail hour with the twins...(we are so lucky we get at least 5 or 6 a day!)
