As frequent Crusaders will know, we’re fans of the random holidays here at 2WC. So, you know we’re going to be celebrating Hug Your Cat Day (with great care). But there’s another random holiday that falls on June 4, that I have to question…
“Old Maid’s Day”…and no it’s not a day to celebrate the card game.
Can someone tell me how “Old Maids’ Day” still exists, and why is there not outrage on Twitter right now?
Ladies, this is the year 2016, “Old Maid’s Day” is not something we “own,” it’s something we kill.
Or alternatively, we get to create a “Single Old Fart’s Day” for the gentlemen. Because “Old Bachelor’s Day” doesn’t have the same sexist ring to it as “Old Maid’s Day.”
Or, option 3, we get to Beyonce the crap out of it and rename it “Single Ladies Day.”
I like options two and 3 personally, but as long as we do away with the antiquated notion that women of a “certain age” need to be married to be fulfilled in life, I’m good.
Now, if you’ll excuse me I need to go find a cat to hug. Happy Saturday!
