Congrats! We Survived Ragnarök.

Posted on the 24 February 2014 by Rarasaur @rarasaur

I just wanted to take a moment and celebrate our survival of the Viking apocalypse.

I know you’re probably thinking: Rara is just making up stuff to celebrate now.  She just wants balloons!

And you’re not entirely wrong.

Still, today the sun rose.  It wasn’t swallowed by a giant wolf, and I am grateful.  Dave did turn 34 on Ragnarök, and I did run out of my favorite nail polish, but I didn’t notice any other casualties.

I’m grateful for a lot of things today, and since we survived together, I thought we’d celebrate together.  I’ve made us a list of 5!

  1. The moon is shining brightly so she wasn’t devoured by a wolf, either.  I am grateful that she’ll be available to follow us home, protecting us from things that go bump in the night– as usual.
  2. The stars are still shining and we were not thrust into eternal darkness.  I am grateful because pretty shoes look better in bright light.
  3. A giant snake did not rise out of the ocean.  I am grateful for this on many levels.
  4. I am grateful that the soil and sky are not poisoned.  I couldn’t convince a single bird or tree to come inside my house “just in case”,  so I am grateful my failure didn’t have dire consequence.
  5. I am grateful that we’ve survived another apocalypse together.  Every one we survive, we become a stronger team.

Just so we’re geared up for the next one, I’ll leave you with some advice from the mind of my favorite apocalypse expert.

The advice applies to many situations.
Use it freely.

Do your best.

Do your best.

Love unconditionally.

Love unconditionally.

Give everything.

Give (but don’t jump off a bridge unless you are Buffy Summers jumping into a portal).
