Conquer Yourself…

Posted on the 21 November 2011 by Drowqueen @theburnedhand

Sometimes I write based on a vibe I get from a variety of social networks.  I see what people are posting or tweeting.  As it gets closer to the holidays, some of my friends are having a hard time coping.  It might be their current life situation, health situation, or work.  Coming together with family during a stressful time might even make their stress level higher because they are being asked questions they would rather avoid talking about right now.  Start preparing yourself now.  That’s right.

I found a wonderful campaign out there that is dedicated to “improving the self-esteem and quality of life of people undergoing treatment for cancer.”  The theory is called Look Good…Feel Better.  Now, before anyone wonders why I am posting this, I think this can help everyone on my list.  It’s very hard to feel good about yourself when you are going through illness or hard times, so I thought I’d post this in honor of some friends going through similar things.

Start thinking positive about your job.  Sometimes that isn’t easy, but you know someone will ask you how your job is going and well, the link above offers you suggestions of how to stay positive.  I can name many things that need fixing, but that’s not my focus because there are so many great things about my job that I love.

How to improve your life situation…well, that is entirely up to you, but I did find this nice resource to give you a place to start.  The table of contents lists things such as tips for eating on the run, ways to stay fit, stress relief, and getting a good night’s sleep.  I’d say that those are a great start to feeling better.

I’m not saying that this will help you improve things overnight, but you and I both know you can do it.

“It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.”  ~Buddha
