…coronate

What do you want to be when you grow up?  It’s a defining question in every child’s life.  The answers range from doctor to cowboy to astronaut to the real dreamers who aspire to the likes of superhero or princess.

Well girls, I and Sesame Street and Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor have some bad news for you: being a princess is not legitimate career aspiration.

Someone should let Kate Middleton know.

Of course the segment (which you can enjoy below) is meant as a girl power, you can be anything you want to be, aspire to greatness, feel good message, and I appreciate that.

Still, I can’t help but feel for the little girls who’ve had their bedazzled, tiara wearing dreams crushed. Not to mention those of  Abby Cadabby ( fairy in training) who learns the life lesson first hand.

So, to be fair, boys (and sorry again girls): being a superhero is not a viable career choice.  You will not be Batman or Superman or Spider-Man or the Incredible Hulk (unless you happen to be exposed to an obscene amount of gamma radiation of course).

There, balance restored. Now, go children and choose sensible careers and don’t forget to dream.
