Mathematically challenged individuals of the world received a tough blow this week. It turns out that in addition to a large portion of the human race, plants might also be more capable mathematicians.

Let’s face it, plants already are pretty impressive already.  They turn light into food, that’s kind of awesome.

But now it turns out that they use molecular mathematics to determine the rate at which they consume starch reserves throughout the night (that’s some serious portion control).

That makes those of us who can’t figure out a 20 percent tip without breaking out a smart phone look really bad…move the decimal point one space over to the left and multiply that number by two…it’s not molecular mathematics.

And if you still can’t figure it out, maybe try asking the nearest plant.
