I recently received an e-mail from Monsieur Flâneur. I know, what is it now? Apparently he saw photos of Kitty's wedding and wanted to tell me that I looked beautiful and to apologize for letting someone meddle in our relationship and that he now sees that he was being manipulated.
This e-mail is nice but it's about six months too late.
I admit, the message warmed my heart. For a second. And then I thought about everything that has happened since the break-up in February and that if our relationship was strong than no one would have had an influence over it. While the meddler didn't help things with comments, visits to MF's restaurant and unrequested opinions about my inadequacies as a quality future wife (this person was my friend first by the way), this certainly wasn't the cause of our demise. Our problems ran much deeper than someone who had too much time on their hands.
I forgive him but at a distance. If it wasn't for this experience, I wouldn't have overcome challenges that have helped me grow into who I am now. Whenever I doubt my decision to actively move on or I soften up when I get a little attention from him, I listen to this playlist that reminds me that we just weren't meant to be...to say the very least.
Warning: This ridiculously disparate playlist is not for the faint of heart.
