Bonjour February! It's so good to see you! I'm really not a fan of January and am so glad that it's over and I welcome February (the month that brings us closer to spring) with open arms.
What I discovered on this frosty February morning in Paris was a little cadeau...
...from Miss Emma, ma petite australienne at A Girl About the World
It's a surprise! What could it be? What could it be?Ooooooh, the suspense! I can't take it!eh, Voilà!I was nominated for a Liebster Blog Award! Trop mimi!
The idea behind the Liebster Award (German (adj) for darling, sweet, lovable, kind) is that it is nominated to up and coming bloggers who have under 200 followers and are an inspiration for the new blogging community. C'est chou!
I just love these interblogger awards. It reminds me of why we all blog in the first place; the support that we have for each other. I once read on a blog that I had stumbled upon at random, refer to these awards as a chain letter and frankly I found this to be sad. I know that Emma took the time to think about who to pass it on to and would hardly dismiss her consideration to be as trite as a chain letter. I thank you Emma for this sweet gesture.
Saying that...without further ado, I pass this Liebster Award to Madame Kristin at Un Homme et Une Femme whom I had the pleasure to meet yesterday over wine and snacks at the hipster hangout Café Charlot. This was the first time I had met a reader of the blog or as she called it a "girl blind date" which seems to be the norm in the Paris expat community and I have to say it certainly didn't feel like a blind meeting.
After communicating with her for almost six months on both of our blogs, we already knew so much about each other! Obviously, we leave out specifics on our sites, so it was fun going into detail. We dove deeper into our stories, where we've worked, characters on our blogs who are in fact real people, chuckled at the middle-aged men who were drinking fluorescent green cocktails with glowing neon straws bobbing out of the top which then turned into me sipping their drink after they offered (I'm so gross) and shared our opinions and struggles of being foreigners in France.
She is my favorite up and coming blogger who is finding her way through the City of Light while sharing with us readers her love of kale, wine, farmer's markets, spandex, Madonna, her neighbors and her husband.
I woke up to a text this morning from her saying: "How did we not talk about Madonna yesterday?" Seriously, how did we not talk about Madonna? Truly the 8th wonder of the world...
Bisous ma belle, ça c'est pour toi!
