It’s finally here! The best part of any presidential campaign–Debate Season!
We are America after all, land of the free, home of the brave, and destination for the overly competitive spirit.
If the hundreds of polls, surveys, and stats are necessary accompaniment to the election, why not an immediate and literal head to head competition? There must be a winner.
I know what you’re thinking. Isn’t the winner the one who gets more votes come November? Not necessarily, but that’s another discussion of an Electoral College nature, and I don’t have time to adequately explain that right now. Although by some stretch of the imagination (assuming you didn’t pay attention in 2000, or in high school civics class), you could say that.
However, what’s the fun of a competition that only pits its opponents against each other in one arena? Why not several, and why not televise it and sit back and watch (and probably tweet) as the two men (don’t get me started) who are vying for the highest office in the land flub their way through issues that will (assuming they get around to them) impact the way we live our lives.
How is that not fun?
Seriously, this is what makes the months and months of campaigning and gaffs worth it. Finally we get to see these two men (still don’t get me started) sit in the same room and discuss the issues. Assuming that discussing the issues involves completely rewording the actual question so that they can answer the question they want to answer rather than the one that was actually posed.
Then, when it’s all said and done, both sides will claim victory. It’s the true American spirit. Winning.
