Happy Monday, and (because it’s been more than a week since we celebrated a food) Happy National Watermelon Day!
I admit, after a week of celebrating just about every guilty, sweet indulgence out there, there’s something refreshing about celebrating this subtly flavored fruit.
In honor of the mythical traits of the seeds of this celebrated fruit, I thought I’d share some of today’s more obscure headlines that are just a little hard to stomach. Here are the difficult to digest headlines of the day:
First up, China has released several theme songs for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, and one in particular has raised more than a few eyebrows…just have a listen:
I suspect that China will probably have to let that one go…but we’ll see what Disney has to say…
Next up, a tragic tale of roboticide…
After successfully making it across the entirety of Canada, Germany, and the Netherlands, hitchBOT, an adorable, Canadian, hitchhiking robot met a savage end by decapitation in Philadelphia this past Saturday. While I completely understand a healthy fear of giving a robot a lift (you don’t know where it’s been), this is not the kind of relationship we want to have with our future overlords.
This was the equivalent of killing Wall-E, not to mention, infuriating the machines is never a good idea. To the coward who beat up a defenseless, smiling robot, know this: In every robot-apocalypse movie ever made, idiots like you are always the first to fall.
Finally, back to watermelons because even Watermelon Day gets more respect from Google than the Women’s World Cup…seriously, Google?
…bi-daily smile…
