Don’t Be a Scrooge…

Posted on the 24 December 2011 by Drowqueen @theburnedhand

Here it is the night before the night before Christmas.  Our family is watching A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott.  I have met many “humbugs” in my time.  People who thought nothing of the welfare of others and only thought of themselves.  The true definition of humbug however, is a willfully false, deceptive or insincere person.  Ebenezer used the word “humbug” to describe the people and things around him never realizing that he was hiding his true feelings with that word.  His childhood was unhappy as his father blamed him for the death of his mother.  This led to a lifetime of grief, guilt, and loneliness at a boarding school, not unlike Harry Potter at Christmas.

Well, I posted a story a few days ago on my social network page about anonymous donors paying off layaway accounts.  I never dreamed that one of my friends would read it and get inspired to do the same thing.  Her mother passed away unexpectedly this year, and she searched for a person with the same last name to pay off her layaway.  When I read what she posted on my wall it brought tears to my eyes.  This post is dedicated to your generosity.  God Bless Us Everyone…

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”  ~Calvin Coolidge
