Don't Call It a Comeback - 10 Questions from the Preppy Empty Nester

...is this thing on?
Thank you so much to everyone who supported the open house work project I was on last week! It turned out to be a really fun project and a total success. You don't get much better than that! I love the adrenaline thump of a big project like that, but thrive on routine and I am loving slowly getting back on pace this week.
I was exited to have a good reason to get back to blogging when my internet aunt aka The Preppy Empty Nester asked me to answer a few questions about myself. I am on my best behavior around her right now, begging her not to leave me in Texas alone and move to Boston, so it is with great enthusiasm that I answer these questions!
1.  You ladies are all creative and talented.  What was the biggest blooper that you made while decorating?
All of my projects have bloopers! That is why there is a dog sitting on my lap right now covered in primer. My biggest blooper was when I refinished a desk while Markus was studying for the P.E. exam. I wanted to do a really shiny lacquer, but I somehow had water on my paint brush while I was painting on the oil based paint and instead of being smooth and shiny I got wrinkled and bubbly. It was quite the loss since I had burned off a few layers of skin using paint stripper to get it down to the wood!
2.  Which child is your favorite? KIDDING!!!!!!  Just wanted to make sure you were paying attention.Well I am happy to answer that my favorite child is Little Child, and have the feeling that it might stay that way even as we add more to the group. At least while she still has the new baby beat on being house trained.
2.  What is your favorite movie and song of all time?My favorite movies are The Great Muppet Caper, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Sabrina. My favorite song of all time is California Stars. The lyrics are by Woody Guthrie and the song was written by Billy Bragg and Wilco. It is the perfect song!
3.  If you wrote a memoir, what would the title be?I like to say wild things to Markus and then follow with "remind me to use that for the title of my memoirs." Most of these sayings end with me saying "...with a side of Ranch."
4.  What has been one of your most embarrassing moments?Oops, I wish I got embarrassed. That would probably help me a lot with reining it in. 5.  What is your biggest regret? I really wish I had done the Disney program (where you work at Disney World for a semester). I love Disney World and had wanted to do it ever since I was in middle school.
6.  If you were awarded an all expenses paid vacation for two weeks where would you go?  I would go to London. I have never been and feel like a phony when I want to buy anything Union Jack! I can't wait to check out all the history and find out all the local secrets on how to get Kate's hair.
7.  How many homes have you lived in?  Which one was your favorite? This is our first house and it will be hard to move! Although I feel by the time we move we will be really squished, so it might not be that hard.
8.  If you could sit next to any famous celebrity on a 5-hour flight, who would it be?STEVE. MARTIN.
9.  What would your friends say are your 3 best qualities?I am down for whatever.
I am super on time.
I always eat more than them.
10.  Why do you blog?I like putting my ideas somewhere, documenting projects and sharing a somewhat alternative life with people that I know and people that I continue to meet. Out of all the things that come to people through blogging, I think my favorite has been times I've been featured or published somewhere else. I get a big tickle from seeing something that I thought was just my daily life, like our home, viewed as worthwhile but a group of people. I've been lucky to use my writing here to get incredible work opportunities in other places so I can keep doing exactly what I want here instead of throwing up someone else's content at a price. I meet fun people and I get more likes on Instagram and have more friends on Twitter than if I didn't have a blog.  Mrs. Preppy Empty Nester, I love reading your blog and admire you for all the patience and thought you have put into your life while you support your husband's thriving career and raise two amazing daughters. I hope there is a place for me to come visit in Boston! (If the new digs are anything like the McKinney house, I can stay in the butler's pantry!)
