The Golden Globes are in the rearview mirror, and Oscar season is nearly here. With 341 eligible films in the running, it’s anyone’s guess who will be nominated.
That being said, with just over a week until the nominees are announced (January 23rd), now is the time where we get to not quite as blindly guess who will be nominated. More importantly, we can hope and dream.For now, we can hope that long-shots like Patty Jenkins might make the cut for Best Director despite the fact that “Wonder Woman,” actually did well at the box office. Or that critically acclaimed “Get Out,” might get a Best Picture nod, and its director, Jordan Peele might get similar recognition.
I know it sounds crazy. After all, you’ve actually heard of both of those films. Come January 23rd, reality may smack us in the face. Enjoy the potential while it lasts. It is the Academy Awards 90th year, so who knows, this could be the year for change.
