While the federal government continues its stalemate shutdown, the states are still plugging along.
In Michigan lawmakers are working hard to make sure everything is on the level…well that your pint of beer is on the level.
A proposal is in the works to amend the state Liquor Control Act to guarantee all pint glasses are in fact 16 ounces. Apparently some establishments serve 12 oz and 14 oz “pints,” which is unmistakably dishonest.
It’s nice to know that the lessons of the ridiculousness of the politics in Washington have not yet made their way to the state level.
I don’t wish to imply that honesty in serving isn’t an admirable quality, but I find it hard to believe that there are not more valuable ways Michigan could be spending it’s time. I’m just spitballing here, but Detroit comes to mind.
On the other hand, as Congress heads into its second week of furlough it’s hard to judge any one for doing something that at least resembles what they were elected to do.
