…Fall

Posted on the 22 August 2013 by Zer @the2women

googleyahoologosThis July, a giant fell. It was a quiet fall, but impressive nonetheless.

For the first time since it claimed the lead back in May of 2011, Google did not claim the title of “most visited site.”

It’s an impressive feat.  Consider how many times you use Google in a day, week or month.  I’m guessing it’s a lot.  There’s a reason they’ve become a verb.

So who dethroned the Internet giant?

In case the picture didn’t give it away, it’s Yahoo.

The truth is that Yahoo just squeaked past Google with 196.6 million unique monthly visitors, compared to Google’s 192.3 million.

If you find it hard to believe that the exclamatory “little search engine that could” ousted the king of Internet searches, well, you’re not alone.

The general consensus seems to be that it was a blip.  That’s good news for Google, but bad for the thousands of Yahoo employees who worked long hours to reclaim the top spot.

We’ll just have to wait and see what August brings.
