…Find The Right Angle

We’ve all heard the phrase time is fleeting, but we may have to add a new expression to our collection—time is leaning.

It was recently discovered that the famous clock tower of the Palace of Westminster in London is leaning.

Those of you still concerned about the status of the damage to the Washington Monument or constantly in fear of the demise of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, can add this great tower to your list of anxiety inducing monuments.

For those wondering what constitutes “leaning” the tower is slanted about 0.26 degrees to the north-west. Or to make that a little clearer, its 0.5 meters (the unit of measurement used by the rest of the world) out of alignment at its highest point.

Don’t worry, this international icon isn’t following in the footsteps of the eternally falling bridge of London. Estimates are that it will take 4000 to 10,000 years for the tower to collapse (got to love that 6000 year gap).

If you’re still wondering “Why all this fuss over a clock tower?” Well, you might know it better by its colloquial name Big Ben (actually the name of one of its bells).
