This piece of ceiling dry wall will be my first repair with the new handyman company. If all goes well it will be on to the next project :-)
I'm focused Man! (In my Jay-Z voice.)If weeks came with themes this week's theme would be Home. Home is where the heart is, that's the saying. Home should be a place that adequately represents you, a place where you can feel your best, a place that serves as an emotional and spiritual as well as physical shelter. Home should be a source of Joy.
Well my home is not always a source of Joy for me. My home is a blessing and I do not take it for granted however I'm not entirely happy with it. I purchased my home at age 25. I did not know anything about home ownership or buying a home. I learned as much as I could online and even took a property management class. However nothing can prepare you for doing something as much as doing it. I did not know how to identify certain flaws in the home that the previous owners had dressed up. I did not understand the difference between a neighborhood of renters vs. a neighborhood of owners. I did not know what my taste were in terms of home design and decor. As my dad would have said what I didn't know could build a whole new world.
Lately I have been thinking more about my home. How it's organized. The repairs that are needed. The things that I like and don't like about it. I think this could be the influence or reading my friend Cherise's Ispaci blog on home organization and design. As a result I have been focused and actually started working on some things. So far I have researched handyman companies and have a repair scheduled, emailed a realtor friend inquiring about what homes like mine are selling for in my neighborhood and called my mortgage company about making a change that could save me some money.
Home repairs and home ownership are still completely overwhelming at times. But I do feel better that I am starting to take control and perhaps even see a way to make continuous improvements to my living situation. This week I am focusing on Home and how I can make it a source of Joy. What are you focused on???
