Four Night Weekend

Posted on the 28 January 2013 by Sharasekaram @sharasekaram
This Monday finds me particularly blue. Withdrawal symptoms from the incredibly epic weekend that has just passed is being felt - and I am struggling to find the motivation to get started on this weeks mammoth To-Do task list.
Let us reminisce so I can relive this weekend one more time. (The names are there for clarity in my own jumbled mine and for those who know the said people)
Thursday: I had no lectures, and so girlfriend comes over, armed with 2 boys we haven't hung out with in a while to laze around my house. Food and movies and consumed. In that order.
Cue call from girlfriend Dumi and husband with a request to meet them at the Floor for drinks that evening as Friday was a holiday (I love Sri Lanka, we have these long weekends ALL the time). She and I had done this the Friday before, but husband insisted so I called Jonny (my arm candy fixture) and we proceed to kick off the weekend. Proceed to run into a million people, consume beer, and a cosmo before Sampath (the bartender and our homie) realizes I am there and send over my bullfrog and various other complimentary beverages. Sit at the bar and watch Sampath do his thang until bar closes. Jonny and I the head to Kama. At first sight - dead until one of my party homies who has his usual table and whatnot. Proceed to drink some more, party. Come home at 5am and have a conversation I didn't expect to have. Crash with confused dreams.
Friday: Wake up at noon and call Jonny. Head to coffee shop for postmortem of said unexpected conversation and analysis of last night. Lunch at the Brewery by O and frown at the crappy service. We are furious we can't buy beer coz the bar is closed so we head back home to nap before the next night. I have a wedding - to which the Prez (of the nation that is) has been invited. Feel awesome and then receive panicked calls from Wasaam, Vanessa, Sam and Jonny demanding to know where I am. Scramble to the Floor where the girls are already flirting with Sampath and he is handing out free drinks. True to form every one of the girls finds some lovesick bar at the boy who buys them a drink (yes we are terrible people). They play 'She tastes like Cola' and we scream and dance. Vanessa and husband and I leave at 1pm and eat amazing cheese kottu before crashing at respective houses.
Saturday: Wake up at 1pm and head to Vannessa's to prepare for the rooftop house party we were having coz it was a Poya. The whole gang is on a whatsapp thead which has been pinging with conversations since Monday about this. True to form the 12 of us don't do any actually planning. Vanna and I make jello shots, and Wasaam joins later to 'mix the juice' and set up music. Everyone trickles in after 4pm, we watch the lkast few overs of the Sri Lanka v Australia match and then get down to it. I will spare you the details of this night...suffice to say even the few newcomers are bonded to us forever. Come home with Dumi and husband, Arshad and girlfriend at 2am, drink more and bond on my bed.
Sunday: Jonny wakes me up at noon and comes over. Have lunch and realize we still have half a bottle and some beer left. Call Sampath to ask for cocktail recipes - he almost dies laughing. Invited a couple of friends, sit out in my garden and sip and chat and bond. With spicy balls and hot butter cuttlefish. Jonny has an epiphany and realize that this is what 'chilled drinks' actually mean. Everyone leaves at mid-night and I fall into bed and sleep.
Drinks. AMAZING people. CRAZY times.
Best weekend ever!
