Friday Style: Be Jammin’

Posted on the 21 June 2013 by Kcsaling009 @kcsaling

Hello, friends, and happy Friday! As amazing and fabulous as Europe was, I don’t think I’ll ever try to plan that kind of an adventure on top of a move on top of starting a 3-credit-hour-Army-course-mashed-into-six-weeks again. Between doing all the reading I’ve had so far for my course, catching up on my online distance education training {more Army continuing education}, writing papers, answering emails, and being stuck in class all day when I’ve been used to having a lot of control over my time…I’m pooped! But the first week of class is done, and I’ve only got five more to go before Scott and I start making our way westward. He’s adjusting well to Florida and getting back into his routine at the DAVE school, but we’re still sappy relatively-newlyweds and we don’t like being apart. Meh.

As of yet, I don’t have anything scheduled for this weekend, and although I know I’m going to end up going somewhere to explore – especially if there’s good weather, as my camera hasn’t had a workout in a bit – I’m definitely going to spend one day lounging around my cozy lodging hotel room like this:

I know it’s probably just a fantasy and I won’t be able to spend a whole day sitting in my room doing nothing – well, not doing nothing, but drinking coffee and working on all the papers and projects I’ve got to get done – but right now, I’m liking the idea. I might throw a little time for a workout in there somewhere, or maybe I’ll use the time to try to get back into a good yoga routine. All this working out this week has been kicking my butt, but I’m loving it – and my butt’s needing it. Too many macarons in Paris and tapas in Barcelona!

Still, this has inspired me to find a day, just one day, sometime in the future, when all the craziness has settled down a little, where I’m actually going to try spending a day just relaxing. I mean deliberately relaxing. Taking the time to get my mind together, to find that balance I’m always looking for, to enjoy the smell of the coffee and to read a book or just…whatever.

What would you do if you could take a day just to yourself, if you could get a break from your normal routine?

Here’s hoping you all have a wonderful Friday!

P.S. Yes, I know there’s a lot of pink in this post. I like pink – partly because, well, I just like pink, and partly because having a lot of pink stuff means no one in this testosterone poisoned environment I’m in will try to take my stuff. It’s a big adjustment, moving back onto a regular Army post, even if it’s a training post and not an operational one.
