As I was opening my new T-shirt order tonight, it occurred to me that I do not publish enough about my true “geek” loves. Some of you are like, no really, that’s okay. Others are like, she said “geek”, bazinga! One of the very first things I ever pinned on Pinterest was a geek t-shirt saying that got repinned a bajillion times during the first week. In any case, all you have to do is read the “about me” section to figure out the truth. How many people can describe themselves and their philosophies of life based on quotes by Tolkien?
How many people get goosebumps when they watch the trailer for The Hobbit? I doubt seriously it is only me. Yet how many have sat here:
I hope my friend in this photo doesn’t mind because I couldn’t crop her out, it wouldn’t be the same. I am the one on the left with the 90′s hair. Grinning like I won the lottery because I got to sit where Lewis and Tolkien took walks. Sigh. You should have seen me at their pub in Oxford. That was fun too. Ha. Ahem. Anyway, others can say what they like, but I know Tolkien was ahead of his time.
I still have this poster. Not only that, but if you were a true fan and everyone in your family knew what a fantasy geek you were, you might have gotten one of these every year. I happen to love looking at the art of Alan Lee and honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if I still have this calendar from 1993 that was my favorite.
Lastly, I have always loved Led Zeppelin, and Page and Plant’s references to my favorite works can be heard in many a song. More specifically, Ramble On. So let’s listen for that part:
