I have some disturbing numbers for the germaphobes out there, and probably everyone else too.
A recent study from Michigan State University, which dispatched undercover researchers to retrieve the findings, found that only 5% of Americans wash their hands correctly. Gross, right?
Of course that number is based on the findings of undercover researchers who did their undercover research in a college town. So, draw your own conclusions.
Although, I must say, there’ something that’s far more worrisome than the lack of hand hygiene in this story. I can’t help but find the fact that a dozen researchers (did I mention they were undercover?) were trolling bathrooms watching us as we did or (as the case would probably be) did not wash our hands.
Sure, there may be E. coli on the door handle, but aren’t we the tiniest bit worried about the creeper peeking over his clipboard as you bypass the sink and soap?
Perhaps, 95% aren’t skipping the hand washing, but fleeing the possible predator who’s taking notes as we exit the bathroom.
And one final thought: Wash your hands!
