Getting Right After Getting Up On The Wrong Side Of The Bed

Getting Right After Getting Up On The Wrong Side Of The Bed There are some people in the world who are blessed with these miraculous beds.  They are not Sleep Number Beds or any particular brand. They are not made of memory foam nor do they come complete with a pillow top.  These beds are miraculous in that they don't have a wrong side.  Meaning, the owners of these bed never (or hardly ever)  wake up on the wrong side of the bed.  I do not happen to have one of these miraculous beds.
In case you could not tell, I am not a happy go lucky person.  On personality tests I score in the melancholy range.  I tend to worry, fear the on known, and have anxieties in new (and sometimes not new) situations.  You see there is a reason I am Chasing Joy.  Just because my natural tendencies are less than joyful does not mean I cannot learn to think and behave differently worry, fear, and anxiety are in no ways Joyful!!!
Anyway, back to the beds.  I do not own one of these miraculous beds.  Because of my natural disposition I tend to wake up on the wrong side of the bed more often than I'd like.  I even wrote about some do's and dont's for when you wake up on the wrong side of the bed a little while ago.  While I think you should definitely follow the do's and dont's advice I think it would also be very helpful to come up with a quick reference list of things you love, things that bring you joy, things that you know will help you feel better, things that you could do to help you get out of the wrong side of the bed funk. This list will be different for everyone so I encourage you to create your own. Here is what mine looks like:
  • Be in good company.  Call or make plans with a friend.
  • Go shopping
  • Go to the gym.  I always feel good after a workout.
  • Spa treatments!!!!
  • Indulge in a treat of your favorite food
  • Look up Pinterest Fails on line.  These are hilarious!
I am going to work on adding more things to this list.  Do you have one of these miraculous beds or are you like the rest of us?  If you don't what did you put on your list?  What are some go to activities that will help you feel better when you wake up on the wrong side of the bed???
