…give Iowa a try

Politics are not something we discuss much here at 2WC.

We follow the issues, and do our best to understand and acknowledge them…quite often in blog form.

Politics is quite often news, something we like to stay abreast on here.  So you’ll often see political events and issues mentioned on these pages.

We even know who the candidates are despite the fact that their names will probably never grace this corner of the web (unless you really tick us off).

However, although we are an opinionated duo, and you can probably guess our political leanings, the realm of actual politics–right, left, conservative, liberal, majority, minority, etc.–is something we steer clear of.

Why?

First, let me explain why we’re mentioning the unmentionable subject today…even if it is in vague non-committal phrases:

It’s the beginning of the end (of the end) of the 2012 presidential election…just 11 more months.  Tonight is the Iowa Caucus.  It’s the first step towards eventually (finally) determining the GOP’s presidential nominee.

Thank goodness there’s an incumbent.

Alas, tonight marks only the beginning of an actual decision process.  In reality, it’s merely a symbolic gesture.  No actual decision will be made until June.  That’s right, you get six more months of this.

I know it’s hard to believe that it’s not November already.  With all of the campaigning, debating, polling, gaffs, senior moments, ignorant statements, empty apologies, unearthed scandals, accusations and the inevitable and relentless (but usually funny) “punditting” that’s already happened you’d think we could have elected a dozen presidents by now.

So…why do we avoid politics?  No comment.
