It’s almost here. Less than 24 hours until the first installment of “The Hobbit” hits theaters.
In case you haven’t caught on, 2WC is super excited about Middle-earth’s return to the big screen.
Of course, when ever Tolkien takes to the theaters, you can be sure of a few things. There will be hobbits. There will also be wizards, dwarves, elves and…well, you should probably get comfortable.
This first chapter of “The Hobbit” trilogy is a bladder-bursting, butt-numbing 170 minutes.
For those of you not willing or able to do the math, that is 2 hours and 50 minutes. And yes, that is an intimidating high running time. Especially considering that the average film runs at about 1 hour and 30 minutes to two hours.
So how does one conquer nearly three hours of Hobbit happiness?
Well, other than years of practice, patience and being a complete dork who will suffer through the pain, there are a few options.
You will definitely want to limit all fluids a few hours before showtime. And a little practice never hurt anyone, so maybe practice sitting for long periods of time. A Lord of the Rings marathon would be a good warm up.
Most importantly, keep everything in perspective. Bilbo will judge you if you use the restroom and there’s a slight chance Gandalf will turn you into something unnatural if you get up to stretch your legs.
